Recent Progress on GRBs with Swift
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 22 July 2013
Abstract
We are in an exciting period of discovery for gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). The Swiftobservatory is detecting ~90 GRBs yr-1, providing arcsecondlocalizations and sensitive observations of the prompt and afterglow emission. Inaddition, rapid-response telescopes on the ground are providing new capabilities to studyoptical and radio emissions. The combined data set is enabling great advances in ourunderstanding of GRBs including afterglow physics, short burst origin, and theGRB-supernova connection.
