High Redshift Dwarf Galaxies from Lyman Alpha Emission and Absorption
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 11 July 2011
Abstract
Observing the HI Lyα line in absorption and emission with deep spectroscopic surveys we can study dwarf galaxies at high redshift. We describe how these observations tell us about typical (i.e., low mass, faint) star-forming galaxies, and how the various observational manifestations, damped Lyα systems, faint Lyα emitters, and continuum sources, fit together in a hierarchical universe.
