Case 30 - Lymphoepithelial-Like Carcinoma of the Parotid Gland

Summary

A 56-year-old female presented with a rapidly growing lesion of the left parotid gland, with facial nerve palsy. After an incisional biopsy, a left parotidectomy was performed. A 4.5 × 3.5 × 3 cm lesion with ill-defined margins and extraglandular extension was detected. After the histologic diagnosis, the patient was further thoroughly examined but no other lesion was found in the head and neck region. Eight years later, two nodules were detected in the right lung by CT scan.
