We prove that any invariant strong Kähler structure with torsion (SKT structure) on a flag manifold M = G/K of a semi-simple compact Lie group G is Kähler. As an application we describe invariant generalized Kähler structures on M.

We investigate the first and second moments of shifted convolutions of the generalized divisor function d3(n).

We give an explicit formula for the projective dynamics of planar homogeneous polynomial differential systems in terms of natural local invariants and we establish explicit algebraic connections (syzygies) between these invariants (leading to restrictions on possible global dynamics). We discuss multidimensional generalizations together with applications to the existence of first integrals and bounded solutions.

This paper deals with generalized elliptic integrals and generalized modular functions. Several new inequalities are given for these and related functions.

We describe (braided-) commutative algebras with non-degenerate multiplicative form in certain braided monoidal categories, corresponding to abelian metric Lie algebras (so-called Drinfeld categories). We also describe local modules over these algebras and classify commutative algebras with a finite number of simple local modules.

We devise a fairly general sufficient condition ensuring that the endomorphism monoid of a countably infinite ultrahomogeneous structure (i.e. a Fraïssé limit) embeds all countable semigroups. This approach not only provides us with a framework unifying the previous scattered results in this vein, but actually yields new applications for endomorphism monoids of the (rational) Urysohn space and the countable universal ultrahomogeneous semilattice.

We study the local symplectic algebra of curves. We use the method of algebraic restrictions to classify symplectic T7, T8 singularities. We define discrete symplectic invariants (the Lagrangian tangency orders) and compare them with the index of isotropy. We use these invariants to distinguish symplectic singularities of classical T7 singularity. We also give the geometric description of symplectic classes of the singularity.

We prove the existence and uniqueness of harmonic maps between rotationally symmetric manifolds that are asymptotically hyperbolic.

Let G be an arbitrary non-zero additive subgroup of the complex number field ℂ, and let Vir[G] be the corresponding generalized Virasoro algebra over ℂ. In this paper we determine all irreducible weight modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces over Vir[G]. The classification strongly depends on the index group G. If G does not have a direct summand isomorphic to ℤ (the integers), then such irreducible modules over Vir[G] are only modules of intermediate series whose weight spaces are all one dimensional. Otherwise, there is one further class of modules that are constructed by using intermediate series modules over a generalized Virasoro subalgebra Vir[G0] of Vir[G] for a direct summand G0 of G with G = G0 ⊕ ℤb, where b ∈ G \ G0. This class of irreducible weight modules do not have corresponding weight modules for the classical Virasoro algebra.

Existence and admissibility of δ-shock solutions is discussed for the non-convex strictly hyperbolic system of equations

The system is fully nonlinear, i.e. it is nonlinear with respect to both unknowns, and it does not admit the classical Lax-admissible solution for certain Riemann problems. By introducing complex-valued corrections in the framework of the weak asymptotic method, we show that a compressive δ-shock solution resolves such Riemann problems. By letting the approximation parameter tend to zero, the corrections become real valued, and the solutions can be seen to fit into the framework of weak singular solutions defined by Danilov and Shelkovich. Indeed, in this context, we can show that every 2 × 2 system of conservation laws admits δ-shock solutions.

Let l[y] be a formally self-adjoint differential expression of an even order on the interval [0, b〉(b ≤ ∞) and let L0 be the corresponding minimal operator. By using the concept of a decomposing boundary triplet, we consider the boundary problem formed by the equation l[y] − λy = f, f ∈ L2[0, b〉, and the Nevanlinna λ-dependent boundary conditions with constant values at the regular endpoint 0. For such a problem we introduce the concept of the m-function, which in the case of self-adjoint separated boundary conditions coincides with the classical characteristic (Titchmarsh–Weyl) function. Our method allows one to describe all minimal spectral functions of the boundary problem, i.e. all spectral functions of the minimally possible dimension. We also improve (in the case of intermediate deficiency indices n±(L0) and non-separated boundary conditions) the known estimate of the spectral multiplicity of the (exit space) self-adjoint extension à ⊃ L0. Results are obtained for expressions l[y] with operator-valued coefficients and arbitrary (equal or unequal) deficiency indices n±(L0).

We study the problem −∆pu = f(x, u) + t in Ω with Neumann boundary condition |∇u|p−2(∂u/∂v) = 0 on ∂Ω. There exists a t0 ∈ ℝ such that for t > t0 there is no solution. If t ≤ t0, there is at least a minimal solution, and for t < t0 there are at least two distinct solutions. We use the sub–supersolution method, a priori estimates and degree theory.

We generalize Bondal and Orlov's Reconstruction Theorem for a Gorenstein scheme X and a projective morphism X → T whose (relative) dualizing sheaf is either T-ample or T-antiample.

Let f ∊ C[0, 1] and let the Bn(f, q; x) be generalized Bernstein polynomials based on the q-integers that were introduced by Phillips. We prove that if f is r-monotone, then Bn(f, q; x) is r-monotone, generalizing well-known results when q = 1 and the results when r = 1 and r = 2 by Goodman et al. We also prove a sufficient condition for a continuous function to be r-monotone.
