Summary

His nod — barely perceptible — dismisses

all limits obligations can impart,

for the Eternal Coming thrills his heart

uplifted by such huge ellipses.

The deeps of Heaven stand before him, filled

with forms, and each calls, “Come! I will be known.”

But never ask his hands to bear your piled-

up cares; give him no burdens of your own.

For they may come to test you, raging through

the house at night; to get you in their hold —

a grip as if they had created you,

and at a stroke, broken you from your mold.
