Summary
SACKVILLE NORTH, NSW (sack-vil), a locality on the hawkesbury river. It is in baulkham hills Shire (map 13:C5) on the north-western outskirts of Sydney.
SADDLEWORTH, SA (sadĕl-werth), 34 05S 138 47E (map 9), a town (pop. 403) and local government area (District Council of Saddleworth & Auburn, pop. 2011) in the south-east of the State. The name comes from Saddleworth Lodge in England. The town of Saddleworth serves a region, once Ngadjuri Aboriginal land, now producing grain and sheep. Other centres in the local government area include auburn, Manoora, Marrabel and Waterloo.
SADLEIR, NSW (sad-leeă), a south-western Sydney suburb in the City of liverpool (map 26:C3). It was named after Commander Richard Sadleir (1794–1889), Mayor of Liverpool, who was noted for his vehement, and sometimes incoherent, evangelism.
SADLIERS CROSSING, Qld (sad-lĕs), a suburb in the City of ipswich (map 23:A4) on the south-western outskirts of Brisbane.
SAFETY BAY, WA, a seaside resort in the City of rockingham (map 20:A4) on the southern outskirts of Perth. John Septimus Roe in 1837 so named the bay on which the resort stands because it was a ‘safe well protected boat anchorage’.
SAFETY BEACH, NSW, 30 06S 153 12E, a resort town (pop. 568) within the boundaries of the City of coffs harbour and to the north-east of the city centre (map 11).
ST AGNES, SA (ag-nĕss), a north-eastern Adelaide suburb in the City of tea tree gully (map 21:D3). It was named after St Agnes Brandy, first produced in the area by Dr Angrove in the 1880s.
