Summary

ABBOTSBURY, NSW (abb-ŏts-bree), a western Sydney suburb in the City of fairfield (map 26:C3).

ABBOTSFORD, NSW (abb-ŏts-fŏd), an inner western Sydney suburb in the Municipality of drummoyne (map 26:H5). It was named after a village on the Tweed River in Scotland.

ABBOTSFORD, Vic. (abb-ŏts-fŏd), an inner north-eastern Melbourne suburb in the City of collingwood (map 25:B5). Its name comes from a ford on the Tweed River in Scotland formerly used by an Abbot of Melrose Abbey. There is a campus of La Trobe University at Abbotsford.

ABERDEEN, NSW (ab-bĕ-deen), 32 10S 150 53E (map 11), a town (pop. 1741) largely in scone Shire but partly in muswellbrook Shire. It is in the upper hunter valley in an area given to coal mining and agriculture. The town was named after George Hamilton-Gordon, Earl of Aberdeen, a British Prime Minister. The Segenhoe Hotel, built in 1837, and the ruins of the Segenhoe flour mill, built by convicts in 1827, are notable features of Aberdeen.

ABERFOYLE PARK, SA, (ab-bĕ-foyle), a southern Adelaide suburb in the City of happy valley (map 21:C6). It was named after an area in the County of Perth, Scotland.

ABRAKURRIE CAVE, WA (ab-ră-kurr-ee), 31 39S 128 29E, a large limestone cavern below the nullarbor plain some 48 km north of the ruins of eucla (map 2).

ACACIA RIDGE, Qld, (ă-kay-shă), a locality on Oxley Creek, within the City of brisbane. It is to the east of inala (map 23:B4).
