The use of methylmetacrylates has not been widely accepted for the repair of frontal bony defects due to the possibility of secondary infection. The development of a new type of methylmetacrylates into which antibiotics, such as gen-tamicin, are incorporated has reduced the risk of secondary infection.

The surgical technique and the results are illustrated on three patients. Favourable results were obtained in small and in large bony defects and even after previous frontal osteomyelitis.

Posterior cleft larynx associated with a local hamartoma is a rare malformation complex. Clinical diagnosis may be elusive. We report such a combination in a newborn infant dying soon after birth with upper airways obstruction.

Inflammatory Salivary disease in childhood is an infrequent clinical entity. That associated with sialolithiasis is rare. We report a case of a child with spontaneous passage of a submandibular calculus. We believe she represents the youngest patient documented to demonstrate the phenomenon.

Tracheostomal stenosis following laryngectomy can prevent satisfactor rehabilitation of a patient, and may be difficult to correct. A reconstructive technique using a flap within a deltopectoral flap to treat this condition is described.

Leiomyoma of the nose and paranasal sinuses is rare. It constitutes about 1 per cent of all benign tumours. This is due to the paucity of smooth muscle in the nose.

In this paper, the authors present one case of vascular leiomyoma which arose in the inferior turbinate in a 64-year-old lady. It was treated by partial turbinectomy with the relief of her symptoms of nasal obstruction, epistaxis and facial pain.

This is a case of a 58-year-old woman who presented with progressive stridor due to immobile vocal cords. This was found to be due to cervical cord compression by an upwardly subluxed odontoid peg. Despite surgical intervention the outcome was fatal.

A 12-year-old girl is presented with Down's syndrome and lingual tonsillitis causing sleep apnoea. In order to overcome her sleep apnoea she adopted a functional sleeping posture. The sleep apnoea was successfully treated by a single staged lingual tonsillectomy without preliminary tracheostomy. A return to a normal sleeping posture occurred spontaneously in the early post-operative period.

Nasal granuloma gravidarum is a rare condition that arises exclusively during pregnancy. It usually presents with the non-specific symptoms of nasal bleeding and obstruction though occasionally a patient may notice an intra-nasal mass herself.

Three cases of nasal granuloma gravidarum are presented to add to those previously recorded in the literature. Although the aetiology of this condition is unclear, the authors speculate that it probably represents an excessive healing response to some minor trauma sustained in a tissue primed and sensitized by pregnancy.

The management of this lesion is discussed and a simple surgical procedure described for its removal.

An extremely rare case of a cutaneous fistula of the submandibular salivary gland is presented. The etiology of the fistula was a foreign body in Wharton's duct.

We describe the clinical course, management and histo-pathological findings.

Haemangiopericytoma is a rare vascular tumour originating from pericytes which are cells surrounding the capillaries. Only 23 cases of haemangiopericytoma arising from the nose and sinuses have been reported in the literature, of which three are from the nasal septum. We are pleased to report one more case.

We report a case of Kikuchi's disease presenting as cervical lymphadenopathy in an adolescent. The original histololgical diagnosis in this case was a metastatic neoplasm. We wish to highlight the importance of this rare condition because of its potential for mimicking malignancy.
