Summary

This chapter covers the period from 1990 to the present, with a focus on the most recent 10 years for statistical purposes. Necessarily, it focusses upon claims in obstetrics and gynaecology, the former specialty having produced undoubtedly the most significant judicial ruling on clinical negligence in the UK during the last decade in Montgomery v Lanarkshire Health Board [2015] 2 All ER 1031.
