Summary

Folios 36r–38r contain deeds relating to the property in Colcherche. The red-ink headings on each verso are “Col” and on each recto “cherche”, except for the first recto (see below).

The red-ink heading at the top of this page reads “Colcherche – Ista tenementa dederunt nobis Johannes Maplesdene & Willelmus Stamyndene per ordinacionem testamenti Johannis Carbonelle ut patet in testamento”.

Carta Hugonis de Rokyngham facta per Adam de Clyve [n.d. (mid-13th c.)]

Sciant presentes & futuri quod ego Adam de Clyve, filius Roberti Le Sumeter, dimisi, concessi, quietum clamavi, extra me & heredes meos forisaffidavi, & presenti carta mea imperpetuum confirmavi Hugoni de Rokyngeham, aurifabro, et heredibus ac assignatis suis totum jus & clameum quod habui vel aliquo modo habere potui seu debui in toto annuo et quieto redditu quem quondam Adam de Benetleya, aurifaber, & Matildis uxor ejus habuerunt & tenuerunt in guarda de Westchepe in parochia beate Marie de Colechirche, videlicet de quinque shopis cum pertinenciis que sunt in Bordehawe et fuerunt quondam Thome Adrian filii Johannis Adrian, & Johanne uxoris ejus filie quondam Gerardi Bat, civis London’. Que quidem sunt site inter tenementum Johannis de Gisorcio versus orientem ex parte una & venellam de la Bordhawe versus occidentem ex altera, et a vico regio de Westchepe se extendunt ex parte aquilonari usque ad tenementum quod fuit quondam Serlonis de la Bordhawe. Et in octo solidis annui & quieti redditus de domo Rogeri Le Avener, qui quidem redditus fuit quondam Alexandri Avenarii. Et in viginti & quatuor solidis annui & quieti redditus de domo Rand’ de Bordhawe. Et in quadam domo que est in dicta venella de la Bordhawe que quidem sita est inter tenementum dicti Johannis de Gisorcio versus orientem & dictam venellam de la Bordhawe versus occidentem et ab aquilone se extendit a domo dicti Rogeri le Avener usque ad tenementum novi hospitalis versus austrum. Habend’ & tenend’ dictas quinque shopas cum domo predicta & cum omnibus predictis annuis redditibus ac aliis pertinenciis ut predictum est prefato Hugoni & heredibus suis & assignatis suis quibuscumque ac eorum heredibus libere, quiete, bene & in pace, integre & plenarie in feodo et hereditate imperpetuum.
