  • El CICR se despidió, a finales de marzo, durante un acto celebrado en la intimidad, del señor Claude Pilloud, quien, tras haber realizado una fecunda labor de casi cuarenta años y llegado al límite de edad, ha cesado como colaborador al servicio del CICR. El señor A. Hay, presidente del CICR, le expresó la gratitud de la Institución por los eminentes servicios prestados a toda la Cruz Roja.

    El señor Pilloud inició su carrera en el CICR el 1 de octubre de 1939, cuando comenzaba la segunda guerra mundial, como miembro de la Secretaría Central. Dirigió, después, el Servicio de Delegaciones y efectuó numerosas misiones en diversos países (¡ 137, nada menos !).

  • Los delegados del CICR en Tailandia prosiguieron, los meses de marzo y abril, sus visitas a 102 puestos de policía fronterizos, en el norte, noreste, sur y sureste de Tailandia; estuvieron, asimismo, en 6 campamentos de tránsito. Vieron, en total, a 5.086 personas detenidas, 4.888 de las cuales por entrar ilegalmente en Tailandia. En mayo, esas visitas continuaron en 18 puestos de policía y 4 campamentos de tránsito, donde había, entre otros detenidos, 387 personas por entrar ilegalmente en el país. Los delegados visitaron, además, 3 centros de detención en Bangkok, donde había 31 detenidos.

    Esas visitas tienen por objeto distribuir socorros a los detenidos recién llegados a tierra tailandesa y carentes de recursos. El CICR les presta asistencia material básica (artículos de aseo, ropa, etc.). El valor de los socorros distribuidos en marzo y abril ascendía a más de 6.000 francos suizos.
