Parliament and great councils (GC)

Commission to Nicholas Dowdall to collect expenses voted for Alan Ashe, prior of St John's, Ardee, proctor for the clergy of Armagh inter Anglicos, dated 5 June 1461.

The bishop of Limerick was present at this parliament.

Certificate from the archbishop of Armagh who will appear personally. The clergy have elected Frater Alan Ashe, prior of St John the Baptist, Ardee as their proctor. Dated 7 August 1465.

Walter FitzSimons, archbishop of Dublin from 1484 to 1511, was proctor for the Dublin clergy in this parliament. There were two proctors from the dean and chapter of Kildare at the 1477 session.

Memorandum quod decimo die mensis Februarii anno Domini 1461 [1462] reverendissimus in Christo pater et dominus Dominus Iohannes archiepiscopus Armachanus Hiberniae primas retroscriptus in cancello ecclesiae suae cathedralis metropoliticae et primatialis Armachanae iudicialiter sedens pro tribunali contra venerabiles patres Rogerum Clogherensem, Laurentium Raphotensem et Bartholomaeum Derensem episcopos ecclesiae suae antedictae suffraganeos ad dictos diem et locum sub continuatione et prorogatione dierum expectatos, praeconizatos saepe et saepius et nullo modo comparentes sive se legitime excusantes sententias suas interlocutorias censuras et poenas occasione suarum contumaciarum, rebellionum et contemptuum in se continentes tulit et promulgavit in cleri decanatuum de Erthyr [Orior] et Tullyhogue convocatione et consistorio publico prout in quadam papyri schedula ipsas sententias continent praesentibus annexa plenius continetur. Praesentibus honorabilibus viris magistris Arthuro McCathmaill officiali de Tullyhogue, Nicholao Weston in decretis baccalaureo, Philippo McKewyn clerico et Roberto Excester et me Iohanne Laycester clericis notariis publicis subscribentibus.

Monition to the bishop of Clogher, Monday 8 April 1465

In Christo fili praedilecte post divinam benedictionem atque nostram, nos possumus deficere non admirari de venerabili confratre nostro Rogero episcopo Clogherensi nostro suffraganeo qui ut asseritis de nostris literis citatoriis pro nostro provinciali concilio celebrando sibi directis multum admiratur et maxime cum causam suae citationis ad personalem comparitionem ipsius intelligat in eisdem narrando quod beneficium iuris a nemine est auferendum si sacrorum canonum instituta et sanctorum patrum decreta praemeditarentur intelligere debuisset quomodo metropolitan© singulis annis incumbit provinciate celebrare concilium suis suffraganeis convocatis, in quo quidem concilio de subditorum emendatione diligens debet haberi inquisitio ac cum Dei timore tractatus et quae ibidem fuerint decreta debent per metropolitanum mandari inviolabiliter observari,
