Summary
The text of MS Petyt 538/38, fos. 23 1r-246r (Inner Temple)
This sixteenth-century translation of a part of the Reformatio (44.3-51.19) is printed on pp. 583-651 as it stands in the MS. Basically it follows the Foxe edition of 1571, though not entirely. In order to account for the alterations which were made within MS Harleian 426 and between that MS and the Foxe edition, the deletions have been supplied in italic type (for MS Harleian 426) and in [italic] for the Foxe edition, as has been done in the rest of the translation.
However, where the translator deleted words from his own text, angular brackets have been used to indicate this: e.g.. Conversely, where the translator has not followed changes made in the Foxe edition (which are marked in [bold]), that has been indicated by using inverted angular brackets, e.g. [>bold<], In those cases, the MS Petyt fragment follows the reading in italic or in Roman type.
