Summary

Counter-roll of John of Broughton, controller of the king's works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works at Westminster in Exchequer year 13 Edward III, with payments covering the period between 3 Nov. 1338 and 28 Sept. 1339.

Physical description: A roll of ten membranes, sewn end-to-end; the bottom left-hand corner of m. 1 is torn off, with some loss of text, but the roll is otherwise in good condition and wholly legible.

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to St Stephen's chapel and a storehouse for its timber, the chapel of St Stephen by the Receipt and the chaplains’ house.
