Summary
Rosario Orrego Casteñeda (1831/4–1879) was part of a group of nineteenth-century Chilean women writers that included Carmen Arriagada (1807–1900), Mercedes Marín del Solar (1804–1866), Quiteria Varas (1838–1886), Lucrecia Undurraga Somarriva (?), Hortensia Bustamante (1860–?), Victoria Cueto (?), Delfina María Hidalgo (1862–?), Amelia Solar Marín (1836–1915), Martina Barros Borgoño (1850–1944), Celeste Lassabe Graccien (186?–19?), and Maipina de la Barra (1834–1904).
