Extract

The 1982 meeting of SCMLA will be held in San Antonio, Texas, on 28–30 October. The newly renovated Gunter Hotel will be the principal convention facility, with the El Tropicano providing overflow lodging. Both hotels are close to the famed Riverwalk, and they promise to be exciting locations for conventioneers. A number of San Antonio institutions will be cohosting the meetings; cochairpersons of the local arrangements committee are Alan Craven (Univ. of Texas, San Antonio) and David Middleton (Trinity Univ.). A Thursday evening reception at the Institute of Texan Cultures will be one of the highlights of the meeting in a city that represents a unique cross-fertilization of cultural influences. Persons interested in attending the convention will receive packets after sending dues for 1982 ($8) to Paul A. Parrish, SCMLA, Department of English, Texas A&M University, College Station 77843.
