Placynthium Arachnoideum, a New Lichen from Patagonia, and Notes on Other Species of the Genus in the Southern Hemisphere
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 28 March 2007
Abstract
The new species Placynthium arachnoideum Henssen is described from Patagonia. The lichen is characterized by incurved lobes retaining in part the false branching of the Scytonema phycobiont, and by two-celled, thick-walled spores with a perforated septum. Some localities in the Southern Hemisphere are given for P. asperellum, P. nigrum and P. subradiatum.
