İmmunologic and infectious reasons are respectable causes for etiology of secondary mania. Varicella infection is known to stay in dorsal root cell through out life, predisposing norologic complications and psychiatric disorders by the aid of cellular immunity impair. 24 year old, male student admitted to psychiatry clinic for much talk, laughter, sleeplessness and consistently talk about a girl whom he fell in love but never met before. Widespread rash all over the body and high fever was remarkable in physical examination. Mania was diagnosed with score 16 of YMSR. Seventh day of treatment for mania and varicella infection his YMSR skore regressed 6, at third week, remission was achieved. Manic episode in this case was evaluated as a secondary in consequence of temporal relationship with varicella, lack of family history, rapid and good respond to treatment. İt is curious about emerging the affecitve symptoms through the possible activation of latent virus infection and represent the affective periode recurrence in later times.
