1 It is more fully described by Palladius, de r. r., 7. 1 §§ 2–4. I Loudon's Encyclopaedia of Agriculture Palladius' description is translated and an illustration is given. It was from this that John Ridley got the first suggestion of his stripper, which he nvented in South Australia in 1843–4. Thus South Australia owes its wheatfarms to Pliny and Palladius. See A Backward Glance by Ridley, Annie E., p. 382.
