¹ On the technical point Mr. Milne writes: ‘I think Καρ⋯ηγ' could be read as easily as Καρ⋯ης … The ρ of Καρ⋯η is a little to the right of of . The of is immediately above a of Καρ⋯η.' I assume a gap of four average letters with the ν of written largely and with a space after it, and with the λλ of written close together as μ. This agrees well enough with certain supplements later.
