Disconnection of a pulmonary artery needs early surgical treatment in order to support the growth of the vessel. However, owing to the high rate of re-stenosis after traditional surgical reconstruction, we developed a hybrid approach involving the creation of pulmonary artery continuity by using autologous or heterologous tissue supported by stent implantation.

Pulmonary hypertension with transposition of the great arteries is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. At the worst end of the spectrum are patients who undergo extracorporeal support perioperatively. We describe our experience with three patients who received preoperative extracorporeal support and separated from cardiopulmonary bypass successfully on conventional postoperative care, with no significant deficits on follow-up.

Superior caval vein obstruction in children after congenital heart surgery has been more associated with thrombosis formation as result of single-ventricle palliation, infection, indwelling devices/catheters, or external compression. Many of these patients will present to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory for evaluation and possible intervention. We present an unusual case of superior caval vein obstruction in a patient after Tetralogy of Fallot repair.

We report two cases of successful surgical repair of total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. Our new surgical procedure for type IIa and IIb total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage has more advantages than the conventional rerouting method using an artificial or native pericardial patch.

Post-patent ductus arteriosus ligation syndrome is common, but rarely has hypertension been described following ductal ligation with an unclear mechanism. We report a case of an infant who exhibited features of post-patent ductus arteriosus ligation syndrome and hypertension, but was found to have bilateral renal artery stenosis. Increased systemic vascular resistance can be masked by the parallel circuit physiology of a patent ductus arteriosus.

Pulmonary valvular stenosis is a relatively common disorder, accounting for approximately 10% of all CHDs. Pulmonic valvular disease can get clinically detected at different ages of life. The more severe the obstruction, the earlier detected the valvular abnormality. Surgical pulmonary valvotomy has been available as a treatment since 1956. This article is about a case of pulmonary annular and valvular stenosis in a 1-year-old child, and it also explores surgical operation of this condition. Transannular patches are usually used within the 1st year of age in pulmonary annular and valvular stenosis. In recent years, anterior leaflet augmentation has been preferred for annulus enlargements. In our 1-year-old case, we expanded the annulus by the anterior leaflet expansion technique and we also augmented other leaflets by polytetrafluoroethylene patch.

There are several options for the repair of interrupted aortic arch. Direct anastomosis may cause several problems including anastomotic site stenosis, left main bronchus compression, and acute-angled aortic arch. Interposition of a prosthetic graft has no growth potential. We present a case of 34-month-old child with interrupted aortic arch, which was repaired using a pulmonary autograft tube.

In patients with ductal-dependent CHD, ductal restriction can be life-threatening. We present the use of urgent hybrid palliation involving placement of bilateral pulmonary artery bands and ductus arteriosus stent implantation in a 1.5 kg premature infant with interrupted aortic arch and ductal restriction.

Scimitar syndrome represents a rare variant of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection with right lung hypoplasia, dextrocardia, and concomitant airway-vessel abnormalities. Surgical correction is preferred in symptomatic patients or in patients with increased left-to-right shunt. In this report, the first case of scimitar syndrome with dual arterial supply and venous drainage to be treated with thoracoscopic approach is presented.
