Ancient Mesoamerica
“Research in Mesoamerican archaeology has been nurtured by the work of many brilliant and fascinating women, who have contributed enormously to our understanding of ancient societies, in this vast and complex region. Through their investigations and publications, female archaeologists have promoted and established the bases of our knowledge about Mesoamerica. We present the (collaborative) works of three eminent women, who have made, and are still making, significant contributions to Ancient Mesoamerica.” Blanca Maldonado, Editor
Advances in Archaeological Practice
“In honor of International Women’s Day, we are offering two papers from Advances in Archaeological Practice: Recommendations for Safety Education and Training for Graduate Students Directing Field Projects by Kaitlyn Davis and co-authors and An Intersectional Approach to Equity, Inequity, and Archaeology A Pathway through Community by Jordi A. Rivera Prince and co-authors. The lead authors of these papers were graduate students when they submitted these manuscripts. Both women coordinated with their peers and more senior scholars to craft papers that critically assess current professional practices. Their papers consider how we can improve wellness and equity in the archaeological community. Their care and diligence in the content they present and in the development of their papers shows these emerging scholars as innovators and leaders in profession.” Sarah Herr, Co-editor
