Summary
Library oath
Ita me Deus adjuvet tactis Sancrosanctis Christi Evangeliis.
I,…, do solemnly promise before God, and swear, that as often as I shall enter the Library of this College I will handle the books and other furniture so as they may last as long as possible. I also swear that I will not carry away, willingly spoil, write in, or in any other way abuse, any book myself, or (as far as in me lies) suffer such things to be done by others. Moreover I shall report to the Provost or Librarian the names of any who are guilty of such offences within three days of learning about them. All and each of which things, and all the statutes of the Library, as far as they concern me, I promise and pledge faithfully to observe. So help me God, touching the Holy Gospels of Christ.
