Summary

The book's Conclusion allows a recapitulation of the book's main themes: How does labour emigration policy affect politics in non-democratic contexts? In the case of modern Egypt in particular, what was the relationship between labour emigration and regime durability? It recapitulates the book's findings, and makes the case for their appicability within a larger universe of cases - from Cuba to the Soviet Union and from China to other Arab states.
