Case 7 - Oral Syphilis

Summary

A 32-year-old otherwise healthy male had noticed a small ulcer in the left vestibulum 5 weeks prior to admission. He denied drug abuse and risky sexual behavior. On examination, an ulcer was found, measuring 7 mm in the largest diameter (Figure 1A); it was pinkish, slightly elevated, and firm. Incisional biopsy was performed.
