Summary
This is a MODS file serialised from the simple data model for the digitised photograph of Michelangelo's Pietà in Figure 4.4 (Chapter 4).
The components of the data model are recorded in this file as follows:
• the identifier (filename) for the digital file in the subelements of <location>;
• metadata on the work of art depicted in the subelements of <relatedItem otherType=”workOfArt”>. These include:
— its title in the subelements of <titleinfo>;
— the artist who created it in the subelements of <name>. Here the <roleTerm> element indicates that Michelangelo's role was that of artist (using a code from the MARC Relator CodesC8.11 list);
— the subjects depicted (Jesus and Mary, Mother of Jesus) in the subelements of <subject>;
• metadata on the photograph that was digitised in the subelements of <relatedItem otherType=”photograph”>, specifically:
— the photographer in the subelements of <name>. Here the <roleTerm> element indicates his role as a photographer (once again using a code from the MARC Relator Codes list).
