Opening of ‘The Syon Pardon Sermon’. 18 lines only, the remainder of the page and the next two leaves are blank. Wells Rev. 11:4300 [48]. The present text is not noted there, nor is it mentioned in Repertorium, which only notes the (complete) copy in BL Harley 2321 (vol. 2, pp. 1322–1326). That text edited Michael A. Hughes, ‘The Syon Pardon Sermon: Edited from MS Harley 2321 with Introduction, Notes and Glossary’, unpubl. M.A. thesis, Univ of Liverpool (1959). Cf. also CBMLC 9, SS1 nos. 653 (K. 43) and 889 (N. 35). Sermon discussed Spencer, p. 408, note 147; Susan Powell, ‘Preaching at Syon Abbey’, Leeds Studies in English, n.s. 31 (2000), pp. 233; 252n46. Powell and Repertorium (p. 1327), suggest that Harley 2321 (and not Sloane 2321 as CBMLC 9 notes in the K. 43 entry) may be the ‘sermo de indulgenciis’ attributed to Simon Winter in the Registrum of the library of the Brethren of Syon (i.e. CCCC MS 141).

Other texts: BL Harley 2321, ff. 17–62.
