Part 2 - The hidden art of management
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 05 June 2014
Summary
The aim of ‘The Hidden Art of Management’ is to provide the reader with an intuitive understanding of how to run a successful business in a competitive market. ‘Do you know how to play chess well?’ is akin to our topic, rather than the more prosaic question ‘Do you know how to play chess?’ which we tackled in Part 1.
Clearly one cannot play chess well without knowing the rules of chess in the first place, and for this reason alone it would be a mistake to read this part of the book without having first digested its predecessor. But I would also like to dissuade those who are already knowledgeable about business financial management from skipping Part 1, because I will be drawing on many aspects of the previous discussion in the course of these pages. So even if you are a qualified accountant, please read Part 1 before you embark on Part 2.
