Summary

In the following pages the text has been taken from roll 141, with the exception of a few entries which occur only on 142. Passages and words taken from the latter roll which are additional or superior to the record on roll 141 are enclosed in square brackets. Variant readings which have any significance are given in footnotes.

PLACITA APUD WESTMONASTERIUM CORAM R. DE THURKELBY ET SOCIIS SUIS JUSTICIARIIS [DOMINI REGIS] DE BANCO IN OCTABIS SANCTE TRINITATIS ANNO REGNI REGIS HENRICI FILII REGIS JOHANNIS XXXIIIJ.

  • 1 Berk’. Dies datus est Johanni de Aure per attornatum suum querenti et Willelmo filio Edwardi et aliis in brevi de placito transgressionis a die sancti Johannis Baptiste in xv. dies prece parcium.

  • 2 Norff’. Assisa venit recognitura quis advocatus tempore pacis presentavit ultimam personam que mortua est ad ecclesiam de Stradesete, que vacua est, cujus advocacionem Nicholaus de Stradesete clamat versus abbatem de Derham’ et unde predictus Nicholaus dicit quod ad ipsum pertinet presentare ad predictam ecclesiam, quia dicit quod quidam Osbertus de Stradesete, cujus heres ipse est, presentavit quendam Radulfum clericum suum, qui ad presentacionem suam ad predictam ecclesiam fuit admissus et institutus et ultimo obiit persona in eadem.

Et abbas venit et bene cognoscit quod predictus Osbertus ultimo presentavit predictum Radulfum clericum suum ad predictam ecclesiam; sed dicit quod predictus Osbertus dedit et concessit predicto abbati et ecclesie sue de Derham et canonicis ibidem Deo servientibus advocacionem predicte ecclesie habendam et tenendam in puram et perpetuam elemosinam. Et profert cartam ejusdem Osberti, que hoc idem testatur. Profert eciam cartam cujusdam Roberti de Stradesete fratris predicti Nicholai, cujus heres ipse est, que predictam donacionem confirmat. Profert eciam cartam cujusdam Thome quondam Norwycensis episcopi et cartam cujusdam Willelmi episcopi successoris sui et cartam Walteri Norwycensis episcopi qui nunc est, per quas iidem episcopi predictam ecclesiam eis concedunt et confirmant in proprios usus. Et dicit quod idem Nicholaus non est heres predicti Osberti nec aliquam terram tenet in Stradesete nisi per feoffamentum ex dono cujusdam Johannis la Persone.
