Summary
51.25 TO UNKNOWN RECIPIENT
MS (fragment): Getty.
[1850–1851]
. . . I did not see The Times review of Ruskin. I suppose it was a little supercilious and a little uneasy, like most of theirs, was it not? Their opinion of Tennyson’s In Memoriam, by the bye, does not gain much credit by their publishing. . . .
Believe me, my dear Sir
Very sincerely yours
Dante G. Rossetti

My dear Brown

56.48.1 TO BESSIE RAYNER PARKES
MS: Girton College, Cambridge.
Saturday [6 September 1856]
Dear Miss Parkes
Allingham’s address is Lane, Ballyshannon; but I understand he is likely to be in London immediately – he said the 9th, so you would most probably meet him. Miss Siddal has been in town about a fortnight, but will be leaving again almost immediately & is most likely to spend the winter abroad. She is rather better, I hope, and would I amsure send you her love, were she present at this writing.
Would you kindly, in return for A’s address, send me word whether Miss Smith1 is just now near Hastings,– at the farm I suppose, if so. My mother & sister Christina are at Hastings, and as Miss Smith must often be in the town no doubt, I would write her asking her to give them a call.
