Les traitements utilisant des rayons X de basse énergie continuent à être réalisés mais en faible nombre. Le praticien se trouve en général près du patient pour maintenir l’appareil et expose donc ses yeux. Avec la modification envisagée de la limite maximale d’exposition du cristallin, des mesures ont été jugées nécessaires pour mieux en connaître l’exposition. Pour cela une simulation des traitements a été réalisée. Pour la dose d’un traitement superficiel de 42 Gy, l’exposition du cristallin derrière des verres radio atténuateurs se situe entre 130 et 43 μSv pour des distances entre 40 et 60 cm. Pour l’intra cavitaire les valeurs obtenues sont vingt fois plus faibles. L’atténuation par les verres est supérieure à 90 %. Le port des lunettes avec verres radio atténuateurs permet de minimiser la dose au cristallin de façon significative. L’application de la nouvelle limite maximale n’aura pas d’impact sur le nombre de traitements.

Three different stages of pig antral follicles have been studied in a granulosa-cell transcriptome analysis on nylon microarrays (1152 clones). The data have been generated from seven RNA follicle pools and several technical replicates were made. The objective of this paper was to state the feasibility of a transcriptomic protocol for the study of folliculogenesis in the pig. A statistical analysis was chosen, relying on the linear mixed model (LMM) paradigm. Low variability within technical replicates was hence checked with a LMM. Relevant genes that might be involved in the studied process were then selected. For the most significant genes, statistical methods such as principal component analysis and unsupervised hierarchical clustering were applied to assess their relevance, and a random forest analysis proved their predictive value. The selection of genes was consistent with previous studies and also allowed the identification of new genes whose role in pig folliculogenesis will be further investigated.

The segmentation strategies used by native and non-native listeners of French were examined in two phoneme-monitoring experiments which required the subjects to detect the presence of word-initial /t/ in potential liaison phrases (e.g., excellent tableau/excellent acteur) and in non-liaison phrases (e.g., vrai tableau/vrai acteur). The essentially faultless performance of the natives suggested that the optimal segmentation routine in such phrases is primarily based on the identification of the critical word and, to a lesser extent, on the contextual information, which was more efficiently used to check the outcome of word recognition. In contrast, non-natives tended to rely on guessing strategies, not based on contextual information (contrary to the widely held language teaching recommendation), but on an incomplete acoustic–phonetic/lexical analysis of the signal.

Variation in the ant species associated with myrmecophytes (plants that provide their associated ants with nesting space, and sometimes with a complete diet) has been noted at both the regional and local levels, with plant distribution generally wider than that of the ants (Fonseca & Ganade 1996). This is the case for Cordia nodosa Lamark (Boraginaceae, subfamily Ehretioideae) whose most frequent associate ant species in Peru are Allomerus demararae (Wheeler) and Azteca spp. (Yu & Pierce 1998), while Azteca sp.1 and Allomerus octoarticulatus are the most frequent in Amazonian Brazil and French Guiana, respectively (Fowler 1993, Solano et al. 2003). Cordia nodosa plants are understorey treelets mostly less than 2 m tall, but taller individuals can be found. Their domatia are swollen, hollow stem nodes that form as the growing shoot tip invaginates through a subapical pore that then closes over when the domatium is mature (Yu 2001). So, plant-ants must reopen the chamber where the pore used to be, thus forming a kind of prostoma.
