The idea for this guide came to me (JA) when I discovered a lack of suitable texts during the period I was revising for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) exam. I hope it will provide you with the necessary tools to enter the examination hall with full confidence and as a sound basis for your future work as a radiologist.

This book has been arranged and produced in a manner to provide a self-assessment guide to the Long Cases. In addition the book can be used as an educational book for radiology trainees during the course of their training.

In the following chapters we provide case examples, which are appropriate to the standard and level for examination. Some of the cases may be at a slightly higher level, so that you may be able to tackle situations with which you may be unfamiliar.

The chapters have been intentionally produced as heterogeneously as possible by the list of contributing authors in order to demonstrate that the cases could be answered in several ways. Each contributor has passed the exam by answering using his or her style and so we hope this book will emulate the real-life situation as well as providing an insight into the fact that there is no perfect answer for each case.

The Royal College of Radiologists has provided a suggested format, which can be the starting point and basis for tackling the exam, but as everything in life, there are no hard and fast rules.
