Summary

The list of contents is found on various folios throughout the volumes (noted here and see Introduction, p. xv) but have all been collected here for ease of consultation.

Red-ink headings are given to the pages: on f. 1r the heading “Kalendare”, f. 1v has the heading “kalendale” [sic], f. 2r has the heading “kalendare”; the following verso pages have the heading “kalen” and the following rectos “dare”, this up until f. 7r. No headings are given to ff. 7v and 8r, which both contain entries of documents of a later date, and were of course written up later.

The contents list was clearly written up at various times, as and when the corresponding documents were entered into the Register, and by each scribe dealing with those documents. No translation has been done of this as a modern List of Contents is now provided for volumes II and III. Specialists who wish to study both the original list given here and the modern one will find differences in how the listing is done and will find some omissions here.
