HEREAFTER FOLLOWS THE KNIGHTLY ADVENTURE OF SIR IBANAND HOW, WITH HIS KNIGHTLY HAND, HE WON IN COMBATTHE QUEEN, LADY LAUDINE, AND HER LAND, CALLEDASCALON*

God, celebrated as the Trinity of*

Father, Son, and Spirit too,

but recognized as one god,

since you know the thoughts of all hearts,*

nothing can conceal itself from your power,

in Heaven or on Earth.

For this reason, omnipotence is attributed to you.

Therefore, Lord, I cry out

to your profound mercy,

and by your three blessed names,*

that you hear for what we call out to you

here in this most wretched vale of tears,

where the hellish host lays traps for us.*
