Summary
The Churches of Germany were in no more stable, settled form in this new Germany than any other element of national society. But they were not thinking of politics first and foremost. They brought to the experience of the national revolution the ecclesiastical debates and ambitions which were already present in the Weimar years and now sought to develop them in the context of a decisive new pressure.
