Call for papers on the topic of Feminism and Postmodernism for an issue of Newsletter on Feminism and Philosophy. Deadline: June 1, 1991. All submissions must be limited to ten manuscript pages. Call for papers on pornography and obscenity as they are viewed in contemporary feminist legal theory for a joint issue of Newsletter on Philosophy and Law and Newsletter on Feminism and Philosophy. Call for papers by graduate students theorizing and defining their relationship to feminist theory and praxis and responding to the connections/disparities between lived lives and academic feminism, theory and literary history. Accepted essays will become part of an anthology designed to reflect and respond to our particular institutional status as feminist graduate students and to record the problems and possibilities of feminist self-fashioning. Call for papers on women who have left their (non-infant) children. Particular focus could be on the motivating forces, pressures, and emotions experienced in the wake of such a “choice” and/or reactions of people when custody status is discovered or revealed. Any known published or unpublished research or other works of writing could be invaluable in facilitating women “breaking silence,” and would be appreciated, as well. Call for papers for the next conference of the Society for the Study of Women Philosophers to be held in conjunction with the meeting of the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association in New York City, December 27–30, 1991. Papers are welcome on the following topics: 1) any aspect of the thought of a woman philosopher (where “philosophy” is traditionally defined); 2) other women thinkers (e.g. poets, novelists, diarists, mystics); 3) the nature of philosophy specifically in light of women's contribution to the history of thought. Papers should be no longer than fifteen pages, double-spaced. Since they will be anonymously reviewed, please put your name on a cover sheet only. Deadline: June 1, 1991.
