1 Joel Grey portrayed Cohan on stage in the 1968 Broadway musical, George M and James Cagney portrayed Cohan in the classic 1942 Warner Brothers biopic, Yankee Doodle Dandy. Cagney won the best actor Academy Award for his role and Joel Grey was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance.
