1 I am astonished to find as item 143 in the bibliography, among original works attributed to Demieville, a “Révision et préface de Schafer, E. H., La Chine ancienne (Paris, 1968).”Google Scholar I have not seen this translation of my Ancient China, or even known of its existence until now. Certainly my approval of the translation and “révision” was never sought. I fear I must publicly disassociate myself from this version, in every respect. Demiéville has apparently made it his own book.
