page 209 note 1 I felt a twinge of regret, when it was too late, that I had not called the Rawlinson MS. ‘ O ’ (for Oxford) to make a complete distinction between the symbol for this MS. and those for the Redactions. But these latter are always discriminated by the superposed index-numbers; and I consoled myself by reflecting that a person incapable of observing and bearing in mind this distinction had no business to meddle with Lebor Gabala at all!

page 210 note 1 With regard to the humorous comparison of my footnotes to ‘ sediments from above ’ may I point out that the reference to a sediment is my joke: it will be found on the very first page of the Introduction. But with ‘ from above ’ I join issue, in view of the endless trouble that they have cost me!
