Call for works for an exhibit entitled De Conquistadoras y Conquistadas (About Conqueror and Conquered Women) to take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October, 1992. We are inviting women of every country of the world to participate through “mail art.” That is, you can send any kind of creative work on the subject—drawings, paintings, photographs, texts—as long as they fit in an envelope and can be sent through the mail. The Continuum Publishing Company announces The 1992 Continuum Women's Studies Award to encourage and reward outstanding scholarship and other writing in Women's Studies. The award is $5,000 advance and publication in the fall of 1992. Any book in Women's Studies, widely defined, to be published under the Continuum or Frederick Ungar imprint as a scholarly monograph or a general trade book for serious readers will be considered eligible. Women and the History of Philosophy: Genre, Cannon, Audience” is the title of the annual conference of the British Society for the History of Philosophy, to be held at Girton College, Cambridge on Monday and Tuesday, April 13–14, 1992. The Chicago Area Women's History Conference is working on a two to four year project aimed at generating a comprehensive bibliography, archival collection, biographical dictionary, curriculum of papers, and a book documenting women's lives, work, organizations, and other contributions to Chicago history. Women of every ethnicity, every job—professional, white, blue, or pink collar—or those who do not get paid for their work are of special interest. Submissions in the form of oral histories, diaries, eye witness accounts, family histories, writings about memorable women, women and religion, original writings, video, film, and audio tape are welcome. The University of Costa Rica will host the Fifth International Interdisciplinary Congress on Women during the first week of February, 1993. The Society for Analytical Feminism will sponsor a session at the Central Division APA Meeting in Louisville, KY, April 23–26.

Papers presented will examine feminist issues by methods broadly construed as analytic, or that discuss the use of analytic methods as applied to feminist issues. Alice in Wonderland—The First International Conference on Girls and Girlhood: Transitions and Dilemmas will be held June 16–19, 1992 at the Free University in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Noting the social and ideological construction of “girls, girlhood, and girlishness,” the conference announcement states that its dual purpose is to “institute as well as to problematize girls as a distinct category of academic research.” There will be presentations organized into sections on: Eros, Sexuality, and the Body; Policy-Making and the State: Imagination and Representation; Education and Upbringing; Youth Culture and Life World; Employment and Schooling; and Theory and Epistemology. Call for Papers. Articles are invited for a proposed anthology of theoretical explorations in the area of feminism and animal rights. We are looking for new articles that extend our thinking about this complex issue. Possible areas for consideration include: history (such as the role of women in the antivivisection movement), critiques of science and medicine, anthropology, literary criticism and aesthetics, religion, ethical theory; philosophical questions such as “rights theory” and the interconnections among the social constructions of race, gender, class, and species; and issues related to ecofeminism, popular culture, the Third World, persons of color, lesbians, and the differently abled. Call for Papers on feminist perspectives of death, focussing on the experiences of an adult daughter when her mother dies, written from the vantage point of gender and with an eye to women's growth through testing of the mother/daughter connection, for a forthcoming multidisciplinary collection of essays, Connections and Disconnections: Mothers, Daughters, and Death. Position Announcement: Director of Women's Studies. The University of Kentucky seeks applications and nominations of candidates for a new position, Director of the Women's Studies Program. The Women's Studies Program is a multi-disciplinary program offering a minor in W.S.; the Director reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Appointment will be half-time in Women's Studies and half-time in the candidate's disciplinary department, with all disciplines considered. Tenure will be in the disciplinary department. Appointment level is open, salary competitive. Candidates must demonstrate scholarly achievement in women's studies and excellence in teaching; administrative experience highly desirable. Dossier should include cover letter, curriculum vitae, a representative scholarly paper, and three letters of reference. Review will begin December 2, 1991 and will continue until the position is filled. Reinventing Socialism: The View from Cuba. 4th Conference of North American and Cuban Philosophers will be held May 29-June 12, 1992 at the University of Havana.
