Nearly 33 millions of people are infected by the Human Imunodeficiency Virus (HIV) all over the world. According to the available scientific literature, there is a high prevalence of psychiatric disorders in people infected with HIV, compared to the general population, but these patients are often underdiagnosed. In fact, about 50% of the patients with HIV had a psychiatric disorder and only 50% of these patients received a psychopharmacological treatment. Furthermore many studies proved the necessity to treat properly these psychiatric patients with HIV. Effectively, when the Mental Health of Psychiatric patients with HIV are not controlled, the mortality by HIV increases dramatically. Moreover, due to the use of the antiretrovirals and the existence of drug interactions, treating this kind of psychiatric patient is a challenge.

The aim of this work is to present the psychiatric treatments which are available for the psychiatric patients with HIV, after a complete analysis of various scientific articles about this theme.

Having knowledges in this area is important due to the crescent number of cases of HIV and also due to existence of drug interactions which can threaten the safety of these patients.
