Call for Social Media Editor

We are seeking a Social Media Editor to improve our digital communications strategy.

Data-Centric Engineering is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by Cambridge University Press that is dedicated to the transformative impact of data science on all areas of engineering. Launched in 2020, the DCE journal publishes original research, case studies, position papers and perspectives. 

The Social Media Editor will work closely with editorial team developing the journals and the editorial and marketing contacts at Cambridge University Press. 

The first objective with this role is to maintain the Twitter account (@dce_journal) and LinkedIn page (Data-Centric Engineering) with new article posts, Calls for Papers for special issues, DCE Webinars and other relevant content. But depending upon the candidate and their availability there may also be opportunities to assist with the commissioning of blogs and other content.

This is not a full-time role but we can provide a small annual payment . This may be an ideal opportunity for a postgraduate student in a relevant field

Person specification 

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, especially but not limited to Twitter and LinkedIn (essential)
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written (essential)
  • An interest in engineering and data science (desirable)
  • Design skills: the ability to identify, edit and adapt images for effective social media use (essential)
  • Experience building a social media and communications strategy (desirable)
  • Experience writing and editing blogs (desirable)
  • Familiarity with pre-prints and Open Research trends (desirable)
  • Experience editing and producing video (desirable)

Candidates should be collaborative with good organisational skills and good attention to detail. Flexibility, and the ability to act on your own initiative are also essential.

Benefits

We are able to offer annual payment. The Social Media Editor will be recognised on Editorial Board page and in marketing about the journal. 

Time commitment: at minimum, equivalent to one day a month (i.e. 7-8 hours).

Tenure

Starting September 2023 for a one-year term.
