The Hopf–Galois structures admitted by a Galois extension of fields $ L/K $ with Galois group G correspond bijectively with certain subgroups of $ \mathrm{Perm}(G) $. We use a natural partition of the set of such subgroups to obtain a method for partitioning the set of corresponding Hopf–Galois structures, which we term ρ-conjugation. We study properties of this construction, with particular emphasis on the Hopf–Galois analogue of the Galois correspondence, the connection with skew left braces, and applications to questions of integral module structure in extensions of local or global fields. In particular, we show that the number of distinct ρ-conjugates of a given Hopf–Galois structure is determined by the corresponding skew left brace, and that if $ H, H^{\prime} $ are Hopf algebras giving ρ-conjugate Hopf–Galois structures on a Galois extension of local or global fields $ L/K $ then an ambiguous ideal $ \mathfrak{B} $ of L is free over its associated order in H if and only if it is free over its associated order in Hʹ. We exhibit a variety of examples arising from interactions with existing constructions in the literature.

Let q be an odd prime power and suppose that $a,b\in \mathbb {F}_q$ are such that $ab$ and $(1{-}a)(1{-}b)$ are nonzero squares. Let $Q_{a,b} = (\mathbb {F}_q,*)$ be the quasigroup in which the operation is defined by $u*v=u+a(v{-}u)$ if $v-u$ is a square, and $u*v=u+b(v{-}u)$ if $v-u$ is a nonsquare. This quasigroup is called maximally nonassociative if it satisfies $x*(y*z) = (x*y)*z \Leftrightarrow x=y=z$ . Denote by $\sigma (q)$ the number of $(a,b)$ for which $Q_{a,b}$ is maximally nonassociative. We show that there exist constants $\alpha \approx 0.029\,08$ and $\beta \approx 0.012\,59$ such that if $q\equiv 1 \bmod 4$ , then $\lim \sigma (q)/q^2 = \alpha $ , and if $q \equiv 3 \bmod 4$ , then $\lim \sigma (q)/q^2 = \beta $ .

The paper develops a general theory of orderability of quandles with a focus on link quandles of tame links and gives some general constructions of orderable quandles. We prove that knot quandles of many fibred prime knots are right-orderable, whereas link quandles of most non-trivial torus links are not right-orderable. As a consequence, we deduce that the knot quandle of the trefoil is neither left nor right-orderable. Further, it is proved that link quandles of certain non-trivial positive (or negative) links are not bi-orderable, which includes some alternating knots of prime determinant and alternating Montesinos links. The paper also explores interconnections between orderability of quandles and that of their enveloping groups. The results establish that orderability of link quandles behaves quite differently than that of corresponding link groups.

We prove that for positive integers $m \geq 1, n \geq 1$ and a prime number $p \neq 2,3$ there are finitely many finite m-generated Moufang loops of exponent $p^n$ .

We construct two infinite series of Moufang loops of exponent 3 whose commutative centre (i. e. the set of elements that commute with all elements of the loop) is not a normal subloop. In particular, we obtain examples of such loops of orders 38 and 311 one of which can be defined as the Moufang triplication of the free Burnside group B(3, 3).

We show that for all $m,k,r\in \mathbb{N}$, there is an $n\in \mathbb{N}$ such that whenever $L$ is a Latin square of order $m$ and the Cartesian product $L^{n}$ of $n$ copies of $L$ is $r$-coloured, there is a monochrome Latin subsquare of $L^{n}$, isotopic to $L^{k}$. In particular, for every prime $p$ and for all $k,r\in \mathbb{N}$, there is an $n\in \mathbb{N}$ such that whenever the multiplication table $L({\mathbb{Z}_{p}}^{n})$ of the group ${\mathbb{Z}_{p}}^{n}$ is $r$-coloured, there is a monochrome Latin subsquare of order $p^{k}$. On the other hand, we show that for every group $G$ of order $\leq 15$, there is a 2-colouring of $L(G)$ without a nontrivial monochrome Latin subsquare.

We show that the isomorphism problems for left distributive algebras, racks, quandles and kei are as complex as possible in the sense of Borel reducibility. These algebraic structures are important for their connections with the theory of knots, links and braids. In particular, Joyce showed that a quandle can be associated with any knot, and this serves as a complete invariant for tame knots. However, such a classification of tame knots heuristically seemed to be unsatisfactory, due to the apparent difficulty of the quandle isomorphism problem. Our result confirms this view, showing that, from a set-theoretic perspective, classifying tame knots by quandles replaces one problem with (a special case of) a much harder problem.

A skew brace, as introduced by L. Guarnieri and L. Vendramin, is a set with two group structures interacting in a particular way. When one of the group structures is abelian, one gets back the notion of brace as introduced by W. Rump. Skew braces can be used to construct solutions of the quantum Yang–Baxter equation. In this article, we introduce a notion of action of a skew brace, and show how it leads to solutions of the closely associated reflection equation.

This paper explores the structure groups G(X,r) of finite non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions (X,r) to the Yang–Baxter equation. Namely, we construct a finite quotient $\overline {G}_{(X,r)}$ of G(X,r), generalizing the Coxeter-like groups introduced by Dehornoy for involutive solutions. This yields a finitary setting for testing injectivity: if X injects into G(X,r), then it also injects into $\overline {G}_{(X,r)}$. We shrink every solution to an injective one with the same structure group, and compute the rank of the abelianization of G(X,r). We show that multipermutation solutions are the only involutive solutions with diffuse structure groups; that only free abelian structure groups are bi-orderable; and that for the structure group of a self-distributive solution, the following conditions are equivalent: bi-orderable, left-orderable, abelian, free abelian and torsion free.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of the equivalence relation, called n-isoclinism, between crossed modules of groups, and give some basic properties of this notion. In particular, we obtain some criteria under which crossed modules are n-isoclinic. Also, we present the notion of n-stem crossed module and, under some conditions, determine them within an n-isoclinism class.

Classical finite association schemes lead to finite-dimensional algebras which are generated by finitely many stochastic matrices. Moreover, there exist associated finite hypergroups. The notion of classical discrete association schemes can be easily extended to the possibly infinite case. Moreover, this notion can be relaxed slightly by using suitably deformed families of stochastic matrices by skipping the integrality conditions. This leads to a larger class of examples which are again associated with discrete hypergroups. In this paper we propose a topological generalization of association schemes by using a locally compact basis space $X$ and a family of Markov-kernels on $X$ indexed by some locally compact space $D$ where the supports of the associated probability measures satisfy some partition property. These objects, called continuous association schemes, will be related to hypergroup structures on $D$. We study some basic results for this notion and present several classes of examples. It turns out that, for a given commutative hypergroup, the existence of a related continuous association scheme implies that the hypergroup has many features of a double coset hypergroup. We, in particular, show that commutative hypergroups, which are associated with commutative continuous association schemes, carry dual positive product formulas for the characters. On the other hand, we prove some rigidity results in particular in the compact case which say that for given spaces $X,D$ there are only a few continuous association schemes.

We show that the cyclic and epicyclic categories which play a key role in the encoding of cyclic homology and the lambda operations, are obtained from projective geometry in characteristic one over the infinite semifield of max-plus integers ℤmax. Finite-dimensional vector spaces are replaced by modules defined by restriction of scalars from the one-dimensional free module, using the Frobenius endomorphisms of ℤmax. The associated projective spaces are finite and provide a mathematically consistent interpretation of Tits's original idea of a geometry over the absolute point. The self-duality of the cyclic category and the cyclic descent number of permutations both acquire a geometric meaning.

We show that a finite loop, whose inner mapping group is the direct product of a dihedral $2$-group and a nonabelian group of order $pq$ ($p$ and $q$ are distinct odd prime numbers), is solvable.

A loop is (right) automorphic if all its (right) inner mappings are automorphisms. Using the classification of primitive groups of small degrees, we show that there is no non-associative simple commutative automorphic loop of order less than 212, and no non-associative simple automorphic loop of order less than 2500. We obtain numerous examples of non-associative simple right automorphic loops. We also prove that every automorphic loop has the antiautomorphic inverse property, and that a right automorphic loop is automorphic if and only if its conjugations are automorphisms.

In this article we show that finite loops with nilpotent inner mapping groups are centrally nilpotent.

In this paper we determine the smallest equivalence relation on a multialgebra for which the factor multialgebra is a universal algebra satisfying a given identity. We also establish an important property for the factor multialgebra (of a multialgebra) modulo this relation.

As a sequel to the previous two papers of the second author, we investigate the structure of medial idempotent groupoids by Pn-sequences. To complete the series of research, this paper has theree purposes. First, we summarize some results in the previous papers so that this paper can cover the materials presented there. Secondly, using earlier results, we prove a few theorems which show the importance of the medial law in controlling the growth of Pn-sequences of groupoids. Finally, we state some problems and conjectures raised during the series of research.

The concepts nilpotent element, s-prime ideal and s-semi-prime ideal are defined for Ω-groups. The class {G|G is a nil Ω-group} is a Kurosh-Amitsur radical class. The nil radical of an Ω-group coincides with the intersection of all the s-prime ideals. Furthermore an ideal P of G is an s-semi-prime ideal if and only if G/P has no non-zero nil ideals.

Commutative idempotent quasigroups with a sharply transitive automorphism group G are described in terms of so-called Room maps of G. Orthogonal Room maps and skew Room maps are used to construct Room squares and skew Room squares. Very general direct and recursive constructions for skew Room maps lead to the existence of skew Room maps of groups of order prime to 30. Also some nonexistence results are proved.

In this paper the concept of length as defined for groups by Lausch–Nöbauer in their book Algebra of Polynomials (North Holland, Amsterdam, 1973) is generalized in several ways. It turns out that the main results of Lausch-Nöbauer concerning it remain valid for this generalization.
