…Firste, for that I was from my infancy brought vp in that worthie Colledge, of the blessed, and vndevided Trenitie in Cambridge of the foundation of Kinge Henery the eight and there lived of the Colledge chardge manie yeares, as scholler and fellow there, and therefore nexte vnto God and my good parents, whom hee hath longe since taken to his mercie, doe confesse to haue received of that good Colledge the foundation of all which I haue since bine inhabled vnto I giue vnto the Colledge of the Blessed, and vndevided Trenitie in Cambridge the full some of Seaven Hundred poundes of Currant English monie to bee payde to the saide Colledge by my Executor, or Executors hearafter to bee named vppon the like accquittance as before I haue appoynted for the former paimente vnder the Colledge Seale in such manner and sorte, to such vse, and vppon such conditions as here after doe ensue. That is if the Librarie in the sayde Colledge bee new erected, and finished beefore my Death. And that there shall not bee beefore my Death a sufficients stipend alloted for a Library Keeper, and hi[s] poore Scholler in the sayde Colledge by any other Benefactor …
