Summary

Grant by Pagan & Margaret Le Huser to William & Juliana Blund [n.d. (late 12th or early 13th c.)]

May those present and future know that I, Paganus Le Huser, and I, Margaret his wife, daughter of Wiking, have granted, demised, and by this our present deed have confirmed to William Blund, tailor, and Juliana his wife, all that land which we had in the parish of St Dunstan at the New Temple, which is between the land of Henry the tailor and the land of William son of Ylbold, i.e. whatever we had there in lands, in wood, in length and in breadth and in all things. To have and to hold by the aforesaid William and Juliana and their heirs from us and our heirs in fee and inheritance, freely, quit, wholly, forever. Paying annually for it to us or our heirs two pence sterling for all services and exactions and for all things, within twelve days of the Nativity of our Lord, without any excuse or forfeiture. And the aforesaid William and Juliana and their heirs will forever acquit the aforesaid land to the overlords of the fee, i.e. two shillings sterling per year to Ralph, clerk of Fleet, and his heirs, at two terms of the year, i.e. twelve pence within the octave of the Nativity of our Lord and twelve pence within the octave of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, without any excuses. And neither I, the aforesaid Paganus, nor I the aforesaid Margaret, nor our heirs, may nor should have or demand any more than the two pence sterling at the statutory term. And it is to be known that neither I, the aforesaid Paganus, nor I the aforesaid Margaret, nor our heirs, may in any way oust or dislodge the aforesaid William and Juliana nor their heirs, nor any other man or woman who may be lodged there by them, for the reason of lodging there either ourselves or our heirs or any other man or woman. And this aforesaid land, in length and in breadth and in all things, I the aforesaid Paganus and I the aforesaid Margaret and our heirs will warrant forever to the aforesaid William and Juliana and their heirs against all men and women, for the aforesaid service, as aforesaid.
