PRICING STATEMENT2

I, JERÓNIMO NÚÑEZ de León, clerk for the Chamber of our seigneur the king, who resides among the authorities of his Council, attest that, with approval from said men, they, having reviewed a book titled History of the Labours of Persiles and Sigismunda, composed by Miguel de Cervantes de Saavedra, have priced each sheet of said book at four maravedís. At this rate and no more, they ordered the book, which appears to have two hundred thirty-two sheets, to be sold, and that this price be placed at the beginning of every copy that is printed. For this to be known, by order of the said authorities of the Council and at the request of said Miguel de Cervantes, I so attest. In Madrid, twenty-three December, 1616.

Jerónimo Núñez de León

It has fifty-eight sheets, that, at four maravedís, amount to six reales and twenty-eight maravedís.
