It is my honor and pleasure to write a foreword for the newest publication from Drs. Bennett and El-Khoury. My affiliation with the authors for the past 15 years has proven to be one of my most meaningful professional relationships. Through their work in the Department of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, hundreds of radiology residents, fellows, and visiting fellows have benefitted from formal musculoskeletal training. Thousands more “learners” at all stages of training have benefitted from their books, presentations, and scholarly articles, which have enriched our profession as a whole.

The cases found in these pages reflect some of the most frequent decision points in musculoskeletal radiology. Nevertheless, these cases remain challenging. The authors have spent their lives finding a balance between simplicity and complexity when teaching others about these troublesome cases, and have now distilled the best of their ideas into this text. The result is a simple, straightforward collection of cases we can quickly refer to when faced with these common, yet vexing situations.
