Summary

The book, which we are handing over to the readers, is addressed primarily to foreign representatives of science and practice. The texts contained in it were prepared by authors representing academic centers from several countries. The guiding strand of their deliberations is “New Trends in the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage.”

The chapters included in the book, authored by 12 researchers from Poland and abroad, are in positive correlation with the international scholarly body of work, which publishes studies relating to trends and challenges to cultural heritage that arise from the fact of technological progress. In this regard, the considerations contained in the chapter of this book entitled “Preservation of Digital Cultural Heritage as a Legal Challenge” require special attention.

The book is an interdisciplinary study, as it includes texts from the fields of legal sciences, management sciences, landscape architecture and heritology in the broadest sense.

The issues addressed have a primarily problematic dimension and only then a sentence-descriptive one. Here appear studies that cover general issues combined with exemplification of specific examples and cases from the sphere of reality of the functioning of society. Moreover, these issues are new but also futuristic in their own way, although supported by concrete examples. This trend of considerations is represented, for example, by “Unobvious Heritage: Issues of the Conservation of Dąbrowa Tarnowska's Urban Layout,” „Managing Cultural Heritage through Projects,” “Legal Determinants of the Concept of Social Responsibility in the Protection of Cultural Heritage” or „Cultural Heritage of Ivano-Frankivsk Region: Problems of Protection and Preservation.”

The considerations outlined in the chapter devoted to the cultural heritage of one part of independent Ukraine take on a special dimension in view of Ukraine's defensive war waged by that country against Russia, an aggressor that, through no fault of Ukraine, committed aggression against an independent country sowing conflagration against human beings and their achievements, including cultural heritage.

No less interesting considerations concern the confluence of aspects of art, artistry and crime. These themes are developed in the text entitled “Art Crime: Case Studies.”

A new trend in the area of cultural heritage and sports is the European Games planned for 2023 in southern Poland. This thread is characterized by the text titled “The 3rd European Games: Stakeholders, Profitability, Opportunities and Barriers.”
