A note written in a blank space in a manuscript of Latin legal documents for the use of a monastic house

MS s. xv. Donor: Thomas Man (c. 1655–90), from 1676 a Fellow of the College, 21 January 1685. The manuscript had belonged to the Abbot of Bury (James, Jesus College, p. 19), according to a note on f. 1.

Fyrst sede þe herbis as þey be wrytyne in lyk porcion and þen putt theym in a gret vessel and whassh hem and take out the pyth of the rotis and þen put them in a led and seth them tyll they begyne to drawe to the botome of the lede and then wythdraw the fyer and let hem soke and þan cleue him thorowe a canvas …

Medical recipe added after a fifteenth-century list of herbs recorded in [A5], in a twelfthcentury manuscript containing works of Ambrose and Jerome including Jerome's Adversus Jovinianum.

MS s. xv. At the end of the text in a fifteenth-century hand is written a note in Latin and English including the names ‘Walterus’ and ‘Johannes’. On f. 4v, is written ‘lib[er] magistri andree doket rectoris sancti botolfi cantabr’. He was the first master of Queens’ College (1448–84).
