Summary

The resources below offer a range to practice language skills and a few that are specific to a topic or information that may add some variation to language learning. For language testing using worksheets, games and quizzes, a popular option is Quizlet (www.quizlet.com– select Languages, then either French, Spanish, German or Latin). Also have a look at Duolingo (www.duolingo.com), which has free language learning for different levels.

Primary school teaching ideas

This provides a large collection of downloadable display materials, resources and ideas for KS1 and KS2 language learning and practice. The resources cover Spanish, French, German and Sign Language. Despite being aimed at KS1 and KS2, these resources and activities would benefit KS3 pupils as a revision tool. Excellent resources to use in the classroom and at home.

Screening Languages

An online resource from the British Film Institute for MFL teachers and education practitioners to find research, information and examples of how short film can be used for languages in the classroom. With lesson plans and schemes of work this is an excellent resource.

French

A learning resource in French looking at brand design, which may be a useful exercise for French language learning pupils.

Children's University: French

Introductory French language modules from the Children's University.

Dartmoor legends in french

All the Dartmoor legends are available in French, along with the English version. Just select French. Useful for French comprehension practice.

This has a vast number of resources available. Select Free Stuff.

World War 1

This teaching resource has been contributed by the Bibliothéque National de France and is designed to help teachers and students use World War 1 learning within the French history curriculum. This is also a good resource to use within the French language curriculum.

This has interactive activities for French. Select either Beginner Year 7–9; Intermediate Year 10–11; or Advanced Year 12–13. If you use the site between 9am–4pm weekdays there is a subscription, but the rest of the time it is free.
